In a world where fitness often feels like a chore, one woman decided to make it joyful again. Meet Supriya Srivastav — once a high-flying corporate professional leading marketing teams, now the driving force behind India’s largest and fastest-growing flow arts community.
Her story is a reminder that sometimes, all it takes to change your life is a single spin of a hula hoop.
From Corporate Life to Creative Flow
Supriya’s journey didn’t begin in a studio or on a stage — it began in the middle of a personal transition. After years in the corporate world, she found herself searching for something deeper, something that went beyond deadlines and presentations.
That’s when she picked up a hula hoop — what seemed like a playful distraction soon became a life-changing discovery.
“It started as a small experiment,” she recalls, “but it unlocked something powerful — a sense of flow, freedom, and connection that I had never felt before.”

More Than a Toy: The Power of the Hoop
For most, hula hooping brings back childhood nostalgia — spinning a colorful ring and laughing when it falls. But Supriya saw more than play.
Hula hooping, she says, is movement meditation. It’s a beautiful blend of dance, fitness, and rhythm, offering a full-body workout while nurturing focus and self-expression.
Every rotation of the hoop builds strength, balance, and body awareness — but more importantly, it calms the mind. “When you’re hooping,” Supriya says, “you’re present. It’s mindfulness in motion.”
The Rise of Flow Arts in India
As Supriya delved deeper, she discovered the vast world of flow arts — a global movement combining props like hoops, poi, staffs, and fans with dance and performance. Flow arts celebrate rhythm, creativity, and self-expression, helping practitioners find a meditative “flow state” that improves both physical and emotional well-being.
But when Supriya started, India’s flow scene was almost nonexistent — just a handful of enthusiasts scattered across cities.
Seeing this gap, she decided to take it upon herself to build something bigger. Workshop by workshop, event by event, she began shaping a community from scratch — one that encouraged collaboration, learning, and creativity.

Making History: India’s First Hoop Jam Party
In 2023, Supriya made history by hosting India’s first-ever Hoop Jam Party at Hard Rock Café, Bengaluru.
The event wasn’t just a performance — it was a celebration. Under the iconic lights and beats of the café, people came together for a massive hoop cypher, spinning side by side, cheering one another, and proving that movement truly unites.
The success of the first event led to Hoop Jam 2.0 at Phoenix Mall of Asia, which took the energy even higher. Beginners and professionals filled the space with colorful hoops, flowing energy, and contagious smiles — turning it into one of the most memorable community gatherings the city had seen.
Flowshaala: Where Movement Meets Meaning
Out of this growing passion was born Flowshaala — India’s first dedicated flow arts education platform, founded by Supriya.
Flowshaala is more than a fitness studio. It’s a movement space where people come together to explore creativity, body awareness, and self-expression through props and flow arts disciplines. From hooping and poi spinning to movement therapy and performance training, Flowshaala is helping hundreds rediscover movement as joy, not punishment.
“Fitness should feel like freedom, not force,” Supriya says — and that philosophy is at the heart of everything Flowshaala does.
A New Wave in India’s Wellness Scene
Supriya believes the flow arts movement in India has massive untapped potential. Globally, flow communities are thriving across festivals, wellness retreats, and performance circuits — and India, with its youth, creativity, and cultural diversity, is poised to make its mark.
With Flowshaala, she hopes to bridge this gap — training a new generation of flow artists, building connections across borders, and positioning India as a vibrant player in the global flow and wellness space.
The Movement Has Just Begun
What started as one woman and one hoop has now become a national movement — uniting artists, athletes, and free spirits under one shared rhythm.
Supriya Srivastav’s journey is a testament to the power of reinvention — of finding strength in softness, focus in fun, and purpose in play.
Because sometimes, all it takes to change your world… is to let it spin.
